Tarps are an item considered a necessity for many different type of jobs. While they are a fundamental defense against inclement weather, they are only effective if they are the proper size for the job. Sometimes, this means that the standard sized tarps aren’t always going to work in every situation. So, there are times when you do need to acquire a tarp that is custom.

But covering an item that is neither is a challenge with these types of tarps. The difficulty is ensuring all of the edges are adequately protected from the weather conditions. Another situation in which you want to go custom is for larger sized objects such as an ATV or a motorcycle. Many of the standard tarps just don’t offer the coverage needed for these items. These pieces of equipment do need adequate slack on the sides so they can be tied down while in transport by another vehicle. The difficulty with doubling up a standard sized tarp is making sure all the edges are adequately tied down so they don’t fly up.
Often very tall objects need a special tarp to cover them adequately. This is because the space they are required to cover is much bigger than the standard tarp can handle. After all, the tarp needs to also cover the sides of the object to offer the best protection from the weather. In many cases, the standard tarp will come up short on the sides and expose those areas to the weather.
