Hybridoma is one cell that contains the cancerous myeloma cells as well as immune cells. These cells are fused together to start antibody production from hybridoma cells in vitro, and they are preferred because of their ability to replicate indefinitely. However, there are various tips that can improve its production scale.
Using an Automated Process for Cloning
During the initial culture process, the clone should be selected and generated because they lead to higher antibody development. For this purpose, automated processes are available that develop stable cell lines pretty quickly as the machine helps screen various clones at one time. In particular, it can screen hundreds of clones at one time, which increases the chances of finding a stable clone.
Production and Growth Medium
In most cases, antibody production from hybridoma cells is done with base media plus serum, but it’s an inefficient addition. This is because these serums have a high variation rate in different batches, which leads to improper readings and incorrect results. In addition, the serums have IgG, which makes it difficult to purify the antibodies. To prevent this problem, the labs can opt for recombinant albumin and transferrin.
Using Perfusion Bioreactors
The production of antibodies can also be enhanced by using perfusion bioreactors. This is because they can produce the gram quantities of an antibody pretty quickly, regardless of the space. With this high and quick yield, it will be easier for researchers and labs to complete the initial examinations for animal studies, toxicology, and drug designing processes.
