Whether you are purchasing a customize patio misting system for your home or buying a kit, there are several mistakes that need to be avoided. Unfortunately, in order to save a very small amount of money, many homeowners choose to cut cost in their systems, resulting in less than ideal cooling capacity.

At top patio misting system is not going to be the lowest priced item on the market. However, it will last for years with extremely little maintenance. It will also add value to your home and enjoyment to your life, so the little bit of added upfront cost is well worth it.

Not Installing a Pump

Some kit systems are designed to run off of the main water line coming into your home and out to your patio. In all areas of the country, during peak water use times, which are the hottest times of the day, that water pressure drops because of the demand at each residence.

When this happens, if you don’t have a separate pump for your patio misting system, the nozzles will start to dribble and drip rather than spray the fine mist. This is not only annoying, but it can allow sediment in the water to build up in the nozzles.

Choosing Cheap Nozzles

Quality brass or brass and stainless steel nozzles are always recommended. These nozzles, particularly when they are correctly spaced across the patio, will provide an extremely fine mist.

This mist then flash evaporates, pulling the heat energy out of the surrounding air. The result is a noticeable drop in the ambient air temperature, which can be up to 40 degrees in a hot, dry climate.

By using only quality nozzles and installing a pump for your patio cooling system, you will have years of enjoyment of the system with just a very limited amount of maintenance work.
