Reports of near death experiences have been occurring for thousands of years even as far back as biblical times. Reports of near death experiences and the bible can also be found. The majority of people who have survived a near death experience speak of some sort of out of body experience. These people also talk of a going toward a bright light or a type of spiritual revelation. No matter their religious affiliations or belief system, all people seem to have similar experiences.
Regardless of religious affiliation, all people who have had a near death experience or NDE report the same overall experiences. The common themes of an NDE include:
They had a feeling of being outside of their body and could see what was happening to their physical body
They saw a light at the end of a tunnel
They were surrounded by loved ones
They saw God or angels
They could choose whether or not to return to their physical body
They saw their life laid out before them
They had a sense of what they needed to change about themselves or the way they live
In the Old Testament it was thought that people who spoke of an NDE were non-believers. However, in the New Testament this thinking has changed, and having an NDE is thought to be an extremely spiritual experience. Many people feel more in touch with their religious beliefs and at peace after this type of an experience. Many survivors feel an overwhelming need to share their experience with other. They also have a feeling of being more psychically aware and of having telepathic abilities. Some survivors of near death experiences find themselves being able to speak a language they could not speak before.
Looking through scriptures in the Bible many references can be found about near death experiences and being reborn. So many have been spiritually reborn after almost dying and have found a new way to live life. This new way of life is often times much more peaceful and loving. Surviving a near death experience often leads to much less stress and frustration in daily life, because time constraints and deadlines are not as important as what the afterlife holds.
