One important factor to consider is the flexibility of the scope rings. For example, there are detachable scope rings on the market that are easy to move from one weapon to another, ideal for the hunter or shooter with multiple weapons and a favorite optic.
In general, a good rule to consider is to choose the quality of the rings based on the size of the weapon and the importance of the shot. The size of the gun is usually a factor of what it is used for, with the larger weapons more typically used for hunting, competitive shooting and even home protection.

The optics are also designed to work with a standard type of scope ring. This may include a one inch, 30mm or 34mm ring. The scope should clearly indicate the type of ring required, or the manufacturer’s website usually provides the specifics needed.
